The family version of VW Golf 7, called Variant, is already for sale in Germany, where the starting price is 18.950 Euros. Expensive, but acceptable?
Volkswagen Golf Variant break is very important for the German producers, since it represents almost half of the total sales of the Golf family – so we are talking about a great contribution to the success of the best selling model in Europe in the last couple of years.
As it is obvious, the Germans are the first who receive the new VW Golf 7 Variant, which, has a starting price of 18.950 Euros, available for the basic variant with 1.2 TSI engine of 85 HP and a Treadline equipment.
Compared to the cheapest Golf 7 with the same engine and equipment, we are talking about a difference of 2000 Euros, justified through the practical characteristic: VW Golf 7 Variant trunk varies between 605 litres ( with 5 seats) and 1.620 litres ( with two seats), while the hatchback only has 380 litres for a five seat configuration.
Still we can’t overlook the fact that Skoda Octavia Combi, technically based on VW Golf 7 with a slightly bigger trunk, has a starting price in Germany of 16.640 Euros ( in a 1.2 TSI variant with 85 HP), although it is cheaper with 2.310 Euros – a 10% off the Czech break could be interesting for people with families.
The most expensive VW Golf Variant in Germany is the 2.0 TDI DSG ( 150 HP), in the Highline equipment, which has a starting price of 30.850 Euros. A sum with which those interested in breaks can find other tempting offers even in the middle class or in the SUV segment.
Do you think the prices for Volkswagen Golf Variant are high or average?
