Volkswagen names – The Wind Connection

Volkswagen has always been in news for naming its car models after the prominent wind names. The themes followed are varied and give the car models a strikingly different outlook. The company has always followed a trend that has been as per the growing needs of the market but has always done something out of the box to keep its spectators hooked. So before you all cleverly start to amuse in tone the facetious names of these car models it would indeed be a great idea to familiarize yourself with the meanings of the most uncommon ones. Some of the car models discussed here are Golf, Scirocco, Jetta, Vento, Bora, Corrado and the famous Passat.

Passat is a huge car that has been in its full production swing since the year of its introduction, 1973. It is a family car that has attained huge appreciation in the markets for being an efficient and high performing car. The Passat derives its name from a prominent German trade wind that flows constantly in the subtropical region on both the sides of the equator. The Passat is also the name given to a global wind circulation system over the oceans that attains huge heights above the entire water body. The car is a true example to its name and has attained several accolades since its introduction in the automobile market.

Jetta is a small compact car that has been a strong contender in the passenger cars circuit since the last six generations of the car model. It has been released under various versions including the City, Vento, Atlantic and the Sagitar. The Volkswagen Polo is a supermini car that has hugely helped the brand to reconsolidate its position and name in the market quite strongly. On similar lines Volkswagen Vento was based on a famous Italian wind and Volkswagen Scirocco got its name from the cold and warm air streams flowing over the deserts.
