Porsche Macan begins its winter tests and here are the latest pictures of the model. The new Porsche SUV was seen undergoing the winter tests disguised as Porsche Cayenne. The model is expected to be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show before it reached UK in 2014. Member of the Board Sales and Marketing, Bernhard Maier stated: “Despite the fact that the new Macan is built on the MQB platform as Audi Q5 sharing the steering system, suspension components and electrical architecture, it has the benefits of an SUV with all the characteristics of sport cars being a genuine Porsche. Porsche officials say that the new model is radically different from Audi.
The engines will be re-designed versions to fit the Q5 with diesel units and 2,0 liter petrol, but a 3,0 liter petrol and diesel will also be available. There will also be a hybrid model and a twin-turbo version. The Macan will take design elements from Cayenne, since it rather looks like a small version of it, and from the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. The Macan, aka the tiger in Indonesian, will be built at the Liepzig plant with its siblings, Panamera and Cayenne, due to a 500 million Euros expansion of the production facilities.
The price for the new model will reach around 35.000 Pounds, 3,500 Pounds more than the price of the future Audi Q5 and less than the cheapest Boxster model which is 37,589 Pounds.
