The new Volkswagen Golf range has been priced from £16,330 for the base threedoor 1.2 TSIS model. Order books for the Mk7 open on 18 October, with first deliveries expected from January.
Four petrol and two diesel engines, three and five-door hatchback body styles and three trim levels – S, SE and GT – will be available from launch. GTI and BlueMotion models will follow next year.
The 1.2 TSI engine comes with 84bhp or 104bhp, while the larger 1.4 TSI gets 120bhp or 138bhp. The 1.6 TDI develops 104bhp and the range-topping 2.0 TDI makes 148bhp. Gearboxes include five and six-speed manuals, and six and seven-speed dual-clutch automatics.
Standard kit on entrylevel S models includes DAB digital radio and air conditioning. SE trim adds, among other things, 16-inch alloys and stainless steel interior trim. Top-spec GT models get sat-nav and Alcantara-trimmed sports seats as standard.
