At the 2012 Essen Auto Show, the German experts over at ABT Sportsline presented a special “farewell” tuning for Volkswagen’s hot-hatch, the Golf 6 GTI.
ABT Sportsline created a special tuning kit called “Last Edition” for the Volkswagen Golf 6 GTI. ABT chose this name because the Golf 6 GTI will be soon replaced by the Golf 7 GTI, a model which was already unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in September 2012.
The “Last Edition” kit comes with several technical improvements, as well as with some design changes. The basic kit features an update to the engine’s central electronic unit, which makes it go from 211 hp to 260 hp, while the Stage version can give the 2.0-liter engine up to 310 hp with the help of a new turbocharger.
Furthermore, ABT has replaced the standard suspension, installing a new one which lowers ground clearance by 25 mm. The 310 hp version also gets new brakes with brake disks 345 mm in diameter.
The car’s exterior has a new aerodynamic kit which includes a reworked front spoiler, LED daylights, side skirts, a diffuser in the rear, a spoiler above the rear window and red aluminum rims.
On the inside, the “Last Edition” Golf GTI gets a few strokes of red on the steering wheel and the dashboard.
